MP
Jon Trickett is the current MP for the Hemsworth constituency which includes Crofton. Jon was first elected to the constituency through a by-election in 1996 and has represented the constituency to this day. He is a Labour Party MP and forms part of the Shadow Cabinet, holding the roles of Lord President of the Council and Shadow Minister for the Cabinet Office since February 2017. Whilst the UK remains within the European Union, Crofton is within the ”Yorkshire and the Humber” constituency of the European Parliament, which is elected by the proportional representation voting method. There are 6 MEPs which represent the area. The current representatives are: John Longworth; Lucy Harris; Jake Pugh (The Brexit Party) Richard Corbett (Labour) Shaffaq Mohammed (Renew Europe Group) and Magid Magid (Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance) who were voted in the last election on 23 May 2019.
