Safe Scheme
Crofton Parish Council participates in the Safe Scheme programme of local policing for the benefit of the residents of Crofton.
The Council pays £1500 every quarter (£6000 per year) which it has assessed as being a cost effective level of policing for the village. The financial cost is supported from the annual precept.
The Council monitors progress by requiring the attendance of a police representative and the production of a monthly report on crime and anti-social behaviour within the village at its monthly meetings, at which point councillors and members of the public can also raise applicable issues.
The Chair of the Council (in consultation with councillors) informs the Safe Scheme Officer where patrols should be undertaken.
A number of other Parish Councils contribute to the overall cost of the Safe Scheme as well as Crofton.
