Frequently asked questions
What is this site?
The aim of this site is to help residents engage in village life and with the affairs of the council which is working on your behalf for the better of village life. By providing one consolidated hub for local information residents can easily interact and manage their village affairs.
Why?
Currently the relevant information is spread in different sources and is not necessarily up-to-date or comprehensive. Up-to-date and comprehensive information increases awareness for current residents and helps new residents adapt and settle into community life as the village expands. Nowadays the internet forms a large part of our daily lives as a source of information. By using the website to distribute up-to-date information hopefully new and current residents can feel better engaged in community life. Additional to this, the council’s remit covers many affairs which underpin daily community life – by including this with general village information residents can become fully engaged on whatever level they choose to participate. Social media platforms are increasingly used by the younger generations and is a great way to ‘spread the word’ in the modern age and ensure that we can engage with residents of every age. At the same time, it is recognised that not everybody will have access to the internet or this web page and traditional forms of communication such as Crofton Beacon’s notice board and monthly magazine will still disseminate information in tandem with this site.
Who is this site for?
This site is for all residents of the village, including those who are new to the village. All residents can use and contribute in some manner to this site.
Who is organising it?
Crofton Parish Council has established a working party under the leadership of Councillor Gordon in association with the Parish Chairman and Clerk to create, establish and maintain and operate this site for the benefit of the village of Crofton. As such, CPC is the main point of contact regarding this website.
Is there a cost to use the website?
This website is free at the point of contribution and use. Technically speaking, there is a cost as CPC will pay an annual fee to the website creator, MFMedia, to provide external hosting services, website security, up-to-date data protection and legal compliance. This is raised as part of the annual precept. However, when the fee is proportioned between all the households in Crofton it is incredibly minimal. Daily operation of the website is done on a voluntary basis by CPC and therefore there are no additional costs.
